Kejimkujik, the only inland national park  in the Maritimes, features abundant lakes and rivers ideal for canoeing. It is within easy driving distance of Annapolis Royal, about 40 minutes away on Highway #8.

The lush woodlands and gently rolling landscapes are home to a variety of wildlife. Visitors will find historic canoe routes, portages and many beautiful hiking trails in the park.

For thousands of years, the native Mi’kmaq canoed along these connecting rivers and lakes, and set up hunting and fishing camps along the shores.  This use and importance to the Mi’kmaq people led to the designation of this cultural landscape as a national historic site.
