Historic Gardens

Annapolis Royal is truly a “garden town”, with many awards to its credit, and the crown jewel is the Historic Gardens. A 17 acre horticultural paradise, the Historic Gardens showcase more than 400 years of garden designs, methods and materials.

Explore our many highlights: a stunning Victorian Garden, Governor’s Garden, a thatched Acadian House (design circa 1671) and garden, an Innovative Garden, and a Rose Collection with thousands of fragrant blossoms. Watch the frogs diving into the ponds while the dragonflies flitter in the air above. Feel the salty breeze on your face as you wander the dykewalk out on the salt marsh.  Absorb the vast rainbow of colours in our daylily collection, or our perennial beds. Savour the sweet smell of the magnolias, or the perfume of a thousand roses. Wherever you turn, you are surrounded by some of the best Mother Nature has to offer!

Truly a feast for all the senses, the Historic Gardens are well worth an hour or two of your day! Bring along your camera, and we challenge you to pull yourself away from all the beauty!

Everyone needs an escape, and what better place to rejuvenate than in a garden… see Mother Nature’s palette, smell the dewy flowers, listen to the birds singing, feel the textured bark… taste, well we prefer you don’t eat the flowers, so taste the wonderful pastries available at the German Bakery & Garden Cafe!

Since a picture tells a thousand words, I’m going to share 5,000 words with you now… please visit our website or our Blog for more!
